International Security





Courses in this track are concerned primarily with questions of conflict within and across national borders, and the efforts by state- and non-state actors to minimize threats and forge a peaceful and just world. Broad considerations of the foreign policies of nations fit within this track, as well as those courses that focus upon war, revolution, imperialism and decolonization—in other words, subjects involving the extension of power in the international sphere.

My favorite part about the IS track is learning about different governments and the issues that have arisen during this new age in globalization. Learning about these issues and their background helps one understand foreign policy and current events more in-depth. One of the most interesting track classes that I have taken has been Government and Politics of South Asia (GOV 347K) taught by Dr. Xuecheng Liu.
